Newsletter

“We couldn’t find a female expert in that.” Raise your hand if you’ve heard that at a conference, panel, or speech. Wonder why men dominate on Sunday talk shows and on substantive matters on the op-ed page? Every Friday, we put out a newsletter that highlights female expertise on what’s in the headlines.

Fellowship

We’re excited to continue the FPI Fellowship Program. Started under Foreign Policy Interrupted, the Fellowship Program aims to diversify voices and opinions in the foreign policy space. Expert voices, not journalists; people working on foreign policy issues, not covering them. From 2014-2018 we selected 40 women, ranging in background and location. You can see them here.

We’re excited to re-launch the FPI Fellowship, in collaboration with Bard College’s Globalization and International Affairs Program (BGIA). If you’re a woman working in foreign policy, national security, or anything international – banking, finance, commerce, technology, economics, sciences, engineering – this fellowship is for you. Professors, practitioners, diplomats, soldiers, consultants, advisors, think tankers – we’re talking to you.

The program has two core components:

An educational module that includes op-ed writing, media training, and a guide to understanding the media
Editorial connections. We’ll connect fellows to an editor based on her op-ed pitch

The educational module runs for six weeks online, for one-hour each week. These sessions are TBD. Previous fellows have worked with editors at Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs, Reuters, World Policy Journal, CNN, The Atlantic, and the Financial Times.
