Adjoa Anyimadu
Adjoa Anyimadu is a freelance policy consultant with a decade of experience in analyzing politics and advising on policy in East and West Africa. Her current research interest is in the role that African innovation will play in the continent’s political engagement with the wider world.
Adjoa has provided expertise to decision-makers including at the European Union presidency, the UN’s International Maritime Organisation, and the International Ransom Payments Task Force. She appeared as an expert witness before the UK Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee and European Union Committee.
She has written for The New York Times, CNN and The Guardian (UK), and authored policy papers on issues ranging from infrastructure development to financial inclusion for Chatham House, the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the Norwegian Peacebuilding Resource Centre.
Adjoa is an editor at The Republic Journal. Prior to this, she managed a £15 million portfolio of grants in support of Africa-UK scientific innovation for the Royal Society-DFID Africa Capacity Building Initiative, and led research projects from design to delivery as a Research Associate of the Africa Programme at Chatham House.
She holds a BA in Social & Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge and an Executive MPA from the London School of Economics.
Fun Fact: Adjoa has deep respect for anyone who takes to the sea after failing to find her sea-legs whilst on a research mission with NATO’s counter-piracy flagship in the Indian Ocean.
