Audrey Kawire Wabwire is a senior press officer with Human Rights Watch covering eastern Africa where she handles communications and writes about human rights. She also runs the popular Human Rights Watch Film Festival in Nairobi which creates a discussion forum between film lovers, policymakers, activists, and highlights the growth of activism across the region. Audrey set up a communications programme for Kenya Human Rights Commission and worked with BBC Media Action as a producer and media trainer in Nairobi. She has traveled through southern Africa reporting on climate change, and has produced award-winning radio shows. Her main interests are in advocacy and activism of women’s and LGBT rights in African human rights institutions.

She has a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from the United States International University – Africa, and a PR Diploma certification from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

Fun fact: Audrey is a self-taught avid motorcycle rider, and knows the shortest bike routes to most places in Nairobi.
