Haruna Minoura is a Japanese Foreign Service Officer.

Throughout her diplomatic career, she has worked to strengthen relationships between Japan and countries around the world based on common interests and values. During her assignment in Malawi, she organized cultural, sports, and educational programs, promoting people-to-people exchanges between Japan and Malawi. In Washington, DC, she coordinated high-level meetings between Japan and the US, and cultivated Japan’s partnerships with the US States. In Tokyo, she was a member of Japan’s drafting team for the Yokohama Declaration 2019, the outcome document of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development. She was also a core member of the team that coordinated the hosting of high-level foreign dignitaries at the Emperor’s Enthronement Ceremonies. 

Haruna holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs, a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Tokyo. Haruna grew up in Japan, Australia, and the United States. 

Fun fact: During the global coronavirus pandemic, Haruna enjoys hiking and “social-distanced” salsa dancing.
